50 steps: outside

Today I'm outside enjoying the sunshine so I grab my camera to show you what's around me in 50 steps.

My avocados are getting bigger.

I thought this looked interesting where a slat is missing, an old spider web continues to catch things.

My new birdfeeder filled and ready to go.

Btw, the kids have been scootering around and saw a friendly black cat with no collar so I told them they could adopt it if it was a stray. Later that afternoon they saw the cat again so Hector went to go check it out and announced that cat is pregnant and ready to have her kittens. Oh! Well, we'll see how it goes but there is going to be kitties...

50 steps: June

Time for another edition of 50 steps: I hadn't done this for a while but it is really fun to find things around the house.

I hit the kitchen, the boys bathroom and the master bedroom. Enjoy.

Douple Dipping

Today I thought I'd share some more "Things I Love" while staying in my "50 Steps" criteria. Not hard to do since we have lots of stuff in our house.



This is not mine but I do love it because Hector loves it and I got this for him. It first started with a plain $10 Zippo, small and silver that was an anniversary present that Hector loved playing with (he doesn't smoke). Sometime later he saw this Zippo in a mens magazine and at the time, Google didn't exist so I had to write the magazine asking on how I can get one of these Zippos. It turned out that it was an artist that created these images and put them on Zippos. I contacted the artist and purchased this martini Zippo. :)



Another thing I love is these little dishes which are Japanese and used for soy sauce/ wasabi with your sushi. Hector found some and bought about 6. Then later he bought more in a slightly larger size so now we have about 12. I complained about them at first saying, "What am I going to use these for??"  Turns out I use them almost every day...I put ketchup or ranch dressing for dipping or for handing out Skittles to the kids or using them to hold beads, various items for my knitting and as you can tell, I am admitting that I was wrong about these silly little dishes. 



The last thing I love on my list today is  peppermint candies. Yum, I can eat these all day long and the kids love them too. Hector found a recent stash hidden away part of them are in a candy dish and the rest I put in a jar. Yum.

50 steps: Soft and Hard edition

Soft squishy yarn. I heard good things about Three Irish Girls so I snagged some with my gift card and it's waiting in the holding bin until I clear out some projects.



Pyrite or Fool's Gold that Joshua picked out at the Laws Railroad museum. He chose a nice one which was a bit more difficult to photograph than I thought.

I'm still figuring out exposure, ISO and aperture to produce the photo I want. I switched over to the 100mm macro also that aggravated my already sore wrist.

50 Steps: Master Bedroom/bath edition

Today I'm squeezing another blog post before we head on out for our snow trip.

Yellow Dice. A cheap toy item that Tyler bought years ago redeeming tickets at Chuck E Cheese or Boomers that Josh has taken a liking to now.

Another 50 step photo shoot but I limited myself to the master bedroom and bath. Not that hard since we have lots of clutter and the kids add their items too. Uff. :)

Pokey that is mine, surprisingly and not the kids. :)

I probably could limit my photos to this room and have plenty to share with the world for several months. Maybe I shouldn't post all of them at once but there is always something to shoot.

Greatest eyeliner EVER and it lasts a long time too.

Snails and Socks

A break in between storm systems gave us a gorgeous morning. I am up to the ribbing in my Vellamo socks so they'll be finished later today. :)

Close-up. My colorwork is definitely much better than when I first began.

I didn't bring my camera with me when I took the kids to school and of course, I saw a snail on our neighbor's wall on my way home. I grabbed my camera and macro lens. When I originally saw the snail it was heading downwards toward the sidewalk but when I came back out, it had turned around and was heading upwards.

Thank goodness for macro. Gross things.

I'm adding this to 50 steps since it is within my parameters.

50 steps: Outside side yard edition

Rain is forecast for the weekend but it hasn't started yet. I decided to a quick 50 steps shoot and kept it around our side yard.


The people who owned the house before us planted some really durable plants since I do absolutely nothing to help prolong their lives yet they live.

50 Steps: day 2

I'm feeling better every day since my bout with the flu but my tummy still gets upset at food. I decided to do another version of 50 steps since there is a bunch of stuff that I need to go through in my process of de-cluttering.



 Frying pan and spatula with bits of last night's dinner. I tried some Korean pork sausages that were given out as samples that the kids really liked. Hector then used the same pan to heat up a Filipino dish called seeg seeg (sp) that I have no idea how to spell. I had a little taste of it and it was good but didn't like the bell peppers that were added to it (Hector picks it out but the flavor is still there).

Unintentional double/triple exposure that I like.

I was messing around with exposure and it was dark in the family room. Can you tell what this is?

It's a Wii-mote charging in its cradle. Oh, it's charged. It would be red if it was charging.

50 Steps

As an attempt to practice photography, I'm starting a 50 step project. Since I spend a lot of time in front of my computer and I always can't get out to interesting locations for photos, I will limit myself to 50 steps (approximate more or less) which is pretty much the house and yard.

Next time I will count how far 50 steps will take me but for the meanwhile, today is my house with lots of backyard photos.
