OC Fair date

The kids and I go to the OC Fair every summer and always have a great time. It's the perfect size for us to see all the rides, exhibits and FOOD!!

Hector joined in on the fun twice this year and we pigged out. It's even better if we have more friends to share the huge portions. We tried to arrange an outing with friends but something came up so it didn't work out. 

The kids take off to explore which is nice so they don't get totally bored while we go looking at the Parade of Products. I bought my supply of pink jewelry cleaner and had my ring and Hector's ring cleaned and polished.

I caught pokemon at the fair too.I can't wait till next year's fair!

Stockton visit

Wow, this NorCal trip flew by and to end it we stopped in Stockton to visit my alma mater University of the Pacific where I spent 5 of my college years earning my pharmacy degree. It was a great experience where I made lots of wonderful friends and memories. 

Of course, it's changed a little and  I had fun showing the kids around campus. I am still learning editing and working on my steady camera work. Always a work in progress!




Stockton has grown a lot since I was here last which is great although the crime rate is still pretty bad in some areas. We had lunch a some burger joint and cooled down with a some Sonic later that afternoon. 

Summer is winding down with a lot of schools already beginning but our school district starts after Labor Day so that can be a good thing.

NorCal: Day in SF

I took the kids on a road trip about a week or so ago. We headed up north to SF where we spent a few days with my friend Linda who showed us around....we met when we were new grads out of pharmacy school and had an instant connection. We are about the same age but she was already married and soon expecting her first son. Then her husband got transferred to Virginia and they moved away. We stayed in contact and after a few more years and another baby boy for her, they moved back to California but to the SF area where they've been since. She came down to LA for my wedding and another visit soon after my first son was born. We always have a great time and it still continues when we see each other again.

I made a video and slapped it together. I will eventually learn better filming and editing techniques but it's another fun outlet for me.

Caturday

I'm slowly dipping my big toe into video and what's cuter than cat videos?? Here are my two cats, Shadow and Phil. These videos are filmed on my iPhone 5s and edited with a free app called Pocket Video that is easy and can be done on your phone.









As you can see, I can add text, graphics and music and much more.  It's a start and I'm having fun with it. Hopefully, my skills will become better with practice as most things in life. Thanks for watching.

Full Throttle

A brief interruption of my Calgary trip with a video of Tyler riding Full Throttle. In the last year or so, he is ready to go on every thrill ride available to him.


Meanwhile, Josh was all set to go on Revolution and Batman. Wouldn't you know that Revolution was closed and Batman was only for season pass holders to preview the ride backwards. Poor kid was so frustrated and upset that he chose X2 as the next ride. I don't know a whole lot about rollercoasters but this was a HUGE leap up on the rollercoaster scale.

That poor kid came off that ride practically in tears but he DID IT! I had to shower that brave kid with lots of hugs, souvenirs and treats. He won't be going on that again but he is proud of what he achieved and so am I.
Okay, I found the video of this ride and it is INSANE. You can see the ride better from the parking entrance to the park because we could hardly see the tracks while waiting for Josh & Tyler. I hope Josh isn't too traumatized by it.

Happy Valentine's Day

Going to spend a quiet evening home with the kids since Hector works late tonight. Too much fuss and hubbub tonight to be enjoyable which I've learned over the years. ;) Hector is a total sweetie for asking me for my Valentine's day list and got me the one thing I wanted even though it's kind of silly and possibly annoying (to him) but he still got it for me....

Big Me

Boy this week flew by! We are getting ready for Christmas so the knitting has taken a quick break for now although I am still working on my Moody socks.

We've been invited to several Christmas parties and looking forward to it. Hector scored an invite to the department party after several people asked if he could cover for them a certain Saturday night. He's worked hard enough all year to take that day off party or not. :)

I procrastinated on our annual calendar so I'm scrambling on that to have it done in time. Not as many photos to choose from so that will be a goal for next year. :)

Yesterday Girl

It's Friday and I'm ready for the weekend. My oldest son Tyler and I along with my cousin Hannah and her friend will be SUPing in Santa Monica Saturday. It will be Tyler and my first time doing ocean SUPing which is different (a bit) so wish us good luck and safett.

Wednesday

Because I have nothing new to share, I will pass along this funny series of videos although I will just post the first one. Pokemon have been around forever (it seems), My nephew was totally into the trading cards when he was Josh's age and now he's around 23 now. My kids and hubby have multiple versions of the game and even though they keep adding more Pokemon to catch, the basic premise is the same in every game.

VIdeo Friday: educational

Hehe, I figured out how to schedule posts to publish on a certain day. I love technology and gadgets but I'm not the most timely or cutting edge. Anyway, here is the video of a They Might Be Giants that was on my iPod (don't remember the album/CD) that I used to play for the kids in the car and we'd all sing along.

Well now there is a video. It looks like that the band recorded more songs and made a DVD to go along with it. The song is much faster here but still a good one. Both kids remember random facts about the sun due to this song.

I wil be heading to Vegas Friday to Monday, hence the preplanning of posts. But stay tuned for next weeks...
