Tara Mystery Socks

I finished my Tara mystery socks for March which is exciting stuff. This month's challenge was cables which always slow me down but after a month I became more efficient. I really should learn to cable without a needle that I heard is life-changing!

For the first time ever, I was in danger of running out of yarn. All of the socks I've knit always had plenty of yarn. Nope, not this time. All that cabling really sucks up the yarn. I need to remember that in the future.

I had barely enough but I'm happy. The socks are very pretty and fit great. See those little balls? That is last of my yarn.

Sockhead hat

I finished another project that was begun several months ago. It's a Sockhead Hat. Super easy but can be ultra-boring with lots of stockinette. I made one before which was slow going but I found out that this type of hat looks good on me. Thinner fingering yarn doesn't add more bulk to my head and I really like the light weight warmth of the hat which is perfect for our SoCal winters. Don't laugh...it's been cold here this year! Frost and everything. :) I also use the hat a lot at hockey games and I go to a lot of hockey games.

So I decided I needed a slightly thicker hat so I went off to knit. I chose Socks That Rock Mediumweight in the colorway Drop Dead Sexy.

I finally finished the hat yesterday and had both kids model the hat.

As you can see. it is nice and stretchy and looks good on both boys. :)

I might have some conflict since all 3 of us will enjoy wearing the hat although I haven't tried it on Hector's head yet. That might be a problem!

We are Young

I don't keep up with the latest music as much as I did when I was younger, but I hear this song a lot on the radio. Even Tyler recognizes it when we hear it in the car. :)
Yes , I like it and it must have some qualities to it if Glee does a version of it. Oy.

Slow going

I'm still knitting and my current project really takes my concentration. Lots of manipulation, cables and twisted stitches keeps me on my toes but I love the result so far.

Close up of the stitches. This is Clue 2.
Tara test fit
For this pattern, gauge is very important especially row gauge. Gauge is x (number) of stitches per inch for the pattern which will ensure the proper fit. Row gauge is the same idea but applies to length. Now note: I never knit a gauge swatch...if it doesn't fit me, I'll find someone who will. But I am very excited that I am spot on gauge and see, it fits great. :)

Here is my youngest son, looking snazzy and spiffy. He really liked wearing these clothes too.

Looking snazzy

It's Friday already?

Finally got myself to get the Canon fired up and head on out to Kings practice.

DB #23

Dustin Brown getting some one on one coaching with Bernie Nichols. All the other big names took the day off from skating like, Kopi, Williams, Doughty, Richards and Carter.

Martinez profile

I lucked out that Martinez stopped right in front of us because it is challenging for me to shoot the players while skating with the smudged plexiglass and metal bars that I have to work around.

Richardson skates

I had to include this guy for Kathy since he's been a healthy scratch for quite a while now and this is the only way she gets to see her favorite player in action.

It was nice to have the camera back in my hands after a break. I need to get familiar again because I'm going to take lots of pics at a friend's baby shower coming up on Sunday. :)

For your amusement...

or it's really for my amusement. Driving around with the kids while talking to Kat on my bluetooth, I brought up how I don't know pig Latin and Kat starts spouting off and taught some right on the spot.

I finally got around to googling it and if you need some brushing up, here is the link.

Hiatus

I had to take an extended break. I'm back for now but posts might be erratic and short. I haven't been able to get out to shoot my camera but hopefully, I will soon.

I have several projects OTN (as usual) but I had to get a quick one churned out to make me feel better. I really enjoyed this one. The Montera Kindle Cover. It's free on Ravelry and it was originally sized for the larger Kindle. I went down several needle sizes to accomodate the Kindle Fire and it fits perfectly.

Another awesome thing is using up stash yarn which always earns high marks from me. :)

All I need is a really cute button and it will be complete! :)

Source of Amusement

My youngest son was given an assignment of researching a California Indian tribe. He has to decorate a vest with pictures and information. One of the things he had to come up with was an Indian name for himself. I searched online and came up with a Native American name generator.

You type in your name and the gender and poof, your Indian name comes up with the meaning. So with Joshua,  the meaning came up Friendly Short Rainbow which is really cute. I decided to try Deborah and Debbie that came up with totally different meanings.
Deborah came out as Sour Singing Snow Goose and Debbie came out as Beautiful Butterfly Showing Beautiful Wings. I guess I can be both depending on my mood. :)

Check out yours!!
