Now for the last part of our trip....Hearst Castle. Hector and I have never been here so it was our touristy portion of our trip. I bought our tickets online and I opted for Tour 1 since it was recommended for first timers.
Our motel was very close to the castle and only took about 5-10 minutes to drive there. The entire grounds were much larger than I expected; even the visitor center is large. It was easy to pick up our tickets and head to the gate.
We take a shuttle bus up to the castle which takes about 10-15 minutes while listening to Alex Trebek narrate some of the history. Two docents take our group of 50 people around for 1 hour and 45 minutes and we see only a very small portion of the castle. There is really that much to see. We saw the guesthouse, the outdoor pool, some terraces, one of 14 living rooms, a dining room and the indoor pool. Phew. The kids seem to do fine on the tour and they each had their own camera to take any photos that they wanted to. I'll have to do a separate post on their photos another day.
So enjoy the photos.
