Flip Mino Cozy

My friend Kat's mom, Carol bought a new Flip for her upcoming vacation to New England next month. This prompts the request for a cozy...luckily it doesn't take much time amongst my sock knitting frenzy and side bunny trip.

Here it is:

Using my Diablo Flip as a template. It is nice little cozy that used up this leftover sock yarn perfectly. Knock out another little ball of leftover sock yarn out of my stash!! :)

Beat the Summer Heat

You didn't think I'd forget, did you? Just in time for fall, I have uploaded a couple of Hawaii videos. Our summer season in SoCal has been absent mostly but this weekend it's supposed to get HOT! I'm not sure whether to believe all the reports but if it is true then why couldn't have made an appearance last weekend when we could have used our Soak City passes.

So enjoy the beautiful ocean, sunset and my kids and try to stay cool. :)

ETA: I forgot to post this because I was waiting for the video to load to Youtube. So here it is just in time for the real heat.

Cleaning

Trying to clean up in general, such as the boys' playroom, etc. As a lot of you know, we do not have an official formal living room. We converted it to a playroom pretty much after we moved in so that would be almost 11 years now. :)

Over the years, the room has undergone some changes from being gated for the baby/toddler stage to being the setting for numerous Hot Wheels tracks and now a place for tiny, tiny Legos scattered all over the house. I put in a folding table which is the Lego area but Josh is the main culprit for the Lego mess. Today I gathered all the Hot Wheel tracks and put those aside to be given away. I'm sure there are plenty of kids who will enjoy them. I now need to enforce the play and put away rule. The kids understand now and wow, there is a lot of room in that room now that it is cleared and vacuumed. :) Now none of us will be tripping over, crushing or stepping on toys.

I am also cleaning out cameras/ video which involves uploading and making room for our Hawaii trip. It will be awesome to relax and unwind! :)

So I leave you with a video of Josh and I playing with his air rocket.

Vancouver videos

Short video of the Olympic torch in Vancouver.

I had so many videos on my Flip that weren't uploaded since my laptop was crammed full of stuff and super slow. I have a new computer now so I finally got around to uploading the videos.

This video is from our first day in Vancouver. Lupe and I had an incredibly long day which started around 5am to catch a flight into Vancouver from Victoria. We arrived in Vancouver at 6am and this video is around late afternoon maybe 4-5pm. Luckily we hung out at the Harbor Lookout which had some tables and chairs where we could rest and enjoy the gorgeous views. I was exhausted but got my second wind to end the night at Robson street.

This is where the action was; lots of people and activities going on. The mens ice hockey game just ended with Canada vs. ? country but I remember Canada won and tons of people were gathered here to watch the end of the game and celebrate.
Ice skating and a zipline where the wait was around 3-4 hours. So much to see and do. Lupe and I managed to see a lot this day and we had a great time.

Video 2

Day 2 of my Victoria/ Vancouver trip. Just a sightseeing video and a gorgeous day after rain from the day before. I didn't totally watch the entire video so if I have footage of my feet, I apologize.

Finally...

my 1st video from Canada is uploaded. Yes, only a month after our trip. My Flip took while to get all 93 videos showing but I have the 1st day edited into a little movie. Enjoy.

I will get working the next one...

Josh's Birthday party (part 1)

My little Flip is so handy to film moments, like Josh's bowling party. As usual my camera abilities need loads of improvement but it captures the essence, chaos and noisiness of it all.

Go Kart World

Lately Joshua has been 'obsessed' with Go-Karts. Hector took the boys to Go Kart World last month and that's all Josh has been able to think about. He has his brochure of all the tracks that he studies and tells us all about each one. Repeat over and over.

Hector took them again on Sunday and took my Flip to record some driving action. Last time Josh was still figuring out driving so he was lapped by Tyler several times on the Mini Indy track. Well, this time the video shows Josh has been practicing (maybe on his Speed Racer steering wheel) and he holds Tyler off pretty well.

Enjoy the video.....it's so cool to see Josh totally into this....

OC Fair

The OC Fair is now here!! Opening day was July 10th and as a promotion, the 1st hour (12 noon to 1:00) was free (entrance and parking). We arrived with Kat at 12 sharp, parked and waited in line which moved pretty fast so from start to finish it only took 30 minutes. We saved about $30 so that was very cool.

I brought my Flip so lots of little videos to show.

I bought the kids their $30 unlimited ride wristbands and they took full advantage of it. For 7 hours they rode rides and attractions MANY times over. Josh really likes the bumper cars so they rode it about 4 times.

Josh was a little bouncy energetic boy running from ride ride so I knew he would CRASH once we started driving home. Sure enough, he did. Overall, the whole day was a total success. Both kids won a stuffed animal at the balloon dart game and Tyler won an extra stuffed chicken at the ping pong ball toss. Fun times!

Because I can't resist the lure of posting another homemade video, I present Tyler and Joshua doing what they love....Scootering!!

But Wait, There's More!

Okay, I'm on a roll now with this Flip Mino video. Here are the boys goofing off before heading off to school this morning.....

Loop's Homecoming

I absolutely love this Flip Mino!! I can drag the stuff I film into the order I want them to appear and make movies....so easy! Then load them onto Youtube and voila! Instant movie!

Toe-Up

I finished another quick project...this time I learned to knit socks from the toe up. All my other socks were knit from the cuff down. I suppose it doesn't really matter but there are instances when knitting toe up socks are preferred.
First, when you're not sure if you'll have enough yarn for a pair of socks. Knitting top down, I knit about 6 inches of leg and then "x" inches for the foot (depending on the size). It would really blow if you didn't have enough yarn to do the toes (unless you want toeless socks, maybe for a pedicure?). So that's when knitting toe up comes in handy where you finish the foot first then when you're almost out of yarn, you can just make a shorter leg and bind off.
Second, some sock patterns are specifically designed to be knit toe up. The pattern of stitches just look better that way. I have a book with a lot of stitch patterns I want to knit but they are toe up which I had to skip (for now).
Well, I finally figured out the cast on for toe up socks and knit up some baby-sized socks to get the general idea since the heel is a bit different too.Luckily I know a baby who can wear them now...baby D.

See? Baby D likes them and they fit perfectly!!

Here is the really cool gadget that has been filming my little home videos. See? It is smaller than my Blackberry! I carry it around in my purse so if the need arises, I can whip it out and film it.

Goodies

A few day ago I was clearing out the pile of mail that accumulates on our kitchen counter and found our Costco rebate check from American Express. SWEET! Hector said I could have it to buy whatever I want...DOUBLE SWEET! I went to Costco yesterday morning, found the goodies I wanted, get to the checkout and um, Hector has to be present for me to use it (he has to endorse it). BOOOOOOO!

So that night we go back again, this time with Hector and I got a digital frame which I've always wanted to display my photos, some plastic bins for yarn (of course), itunes cards and a Flip Mino HD camcorder. This little Flip Mino is so small, it's smaller than my Blackberry and ultra simple to use. I just turned it on and use.

Now it needs to upload and I need to do an errand for Hector in OC so hopefully it won't take too long....this is just a little video of Tyler.
