Stanley Cup Finals
Canada did a much better job with their opening video to the Stanley Cup Finals. I could watch this over and over again. :)

Kool socks
I finished a pair this month! I have to be grateful to the SKA group on Ravelry for keeping focused. Their monthly challenges keep me from me. Does that make sense? Otherwise I'd start a pattern after pattern until I feel the mojo. I figured I can do that with other times but for SKA I need to buckle down and knit. The month of May is lace and here is my pair called Diagonal Lace socks.
I took some yarn (I think it's Heart and Sole) and dyed it with Kool-aid in my crockpot. I used 3 flavors, grape, something blue tropical and lime. I really like how the colors came out. Not too messy or crazy.
I need to take better pictures so I can do that later....here is one made into a collage on my iPad. :)
Hmmm, not much better but you get the idea of the socks. Boy I need to paint some rooms this summer so I have more options for photographing my socks. :)

Retro
We are in the process of renovating my MIL's home so that we can rent it out. But first we had to go through a lot of things/items because she doesn't like to throw anything away. We found all her costume jewelry in addition to old photos, journals and various knickknacks.
Somethings we just couldn't keep or use and it's funny how certain things would catch our eye. Some wanted the costume jewlery which was pretty awesome and I liked mostly the gadgets.
Luckily for me, no one wanted the gadgets so I got to keep a couple of items. The first one is not very practical but still really cool to me.
Behold, the Polaroid!! I remember these when I was younger but we never had one. It is still in very good condition but the film is quite expensive. A cassette that takes 8 exposures is $30. Wowza!! And I'm not even sure if the camera works but it probably does. The battery is actually in the film. Polaroid doesn't make the film anymore but some other company does for a high price.
It will look nice on display if I ever can de-clutter my house. :)
Another cool item is this...
It turns out to be pop-up opera glasses. It shuts flat and fits perfectly inside my little clutch purse. I know because I already used it last month to see American Idiot at the Ahmanson in Los Angeles. It worked great. :)
Simple design and function. No bells or whistles. Hector says he found a few more of these glasses so I'm excited to see what those look like. :)

New Toy
My sweetie got me the new iPad for Mother's Day which is pretty freaking awesome! I can do most of my computer stuff on it except blog. I don't mind since I use my desktop for uploading my photos so that works together.
The kids and I discovered the photobooth so here are some of the crazy photos they created....
I really like the Diptic app that can make different layouts so here is one I made with photos from my iPhone.
Thank you honey for my wonderful Mother's Day gift. :)

Finally...
Joshua lost an upper tooth this week! He is later than most in losing his baby teeth but he's getting there.
And I'm trying to take these playoff games one at a time but it's very difficult to not get excited. After seriously watching the Kings play for the last 5 years has been a rollercoaster ride and even this season, their play was inconsistent but come playoff time, they've been transformed into a great team. :)
Since we are season ticket holders, we get first priority for our seats come playoff time. We pay as we play but scheduling can be frustrating because we have to wait for other teams to finish before game dates are released. So for Round 1 and 2, we went to the home games since I couldn't sell our tickets. I learned to set it up beforehand on Stubhub and the date will be adjusted once they're announced.
So I thought I would sell round 3 because now the demand is greater as we progress further. I was able to sell the first 2 home games thinking that this round would be tougher so we would most likely go past 5 games but no, we might actually sweep. Whhuuuuttt? Crazy times, I tell you!
Hector said we are definitely going to any Round 4 games which is fine by me. Only one more win and then I'll look forward....
Meanwhile, I went to practice which was an optional skate and had fun taking pictures. Here are some:

Glass pane attack
Silly video suspending the glass pane since over this season we've seen numerous of these kinds of videos so there you have it.
I've been preoccupied with hockey playoffs because the Kings are in the Western conference finals. If we win this round, we move on to the Stanley Cup round. So exciting! :)
I'm still knitting and now added spinning to my bag of tricks. It's a drop spindle and it's fun trying to get the weight I want. :)

Noro Bias Lace Scarf
A new record for me knitting a scarf in about 3 days. Yay! It looks lovely in Noro colors (Silk Garden sock) and will soon be gifted to my SIL Lupe. I originally began a different pattern which divides the yarn into 3 separate balls and uses intarsia. You say what? Yeah, my first time which was coming along okay but I didn't like how the colors were lining up and was just too fiddily.
Off to Ravelry to scour pattern and I found the Noro Bias Lace scarf. Very simple pattern with stunning results. Once I got to the straight section, the pattern is easily memorized which was perfect for playoff hockey! I think Lupe will love this scarf very much (at least she better)!
Soaked and blocked on my mat which dried after a couple of days to emerge a gorgeous scarf. I really do love this pattern. Okay, on to pictures...
I still had to weave in the ends and was heading to see the Kings practice so I threw it in my photo bag. As soon as I walked in I noticed the almost life size cardboard cutout of Kopitar standing there so on our way out, we had a little photo shoot. :)
Kopi was very cooperative, willing and took instruction well. Kat was on hand to do the styling duties. Yes, we are silly but it was fun! Maybe I 'll get some pics of the scarf on me later...

Game 3
Thursday was Game 3 at Staples Center so here are the pictures I took.
The amtosphere is terrific and this year the Kings are really playing to their potential. Lots of analysts are picking the Kings to go all the way. If they continue to play hard, they could do it!
GO KINGS! :)
I'll go back to knitting now since I have a week to wait until the next round.
