New vs. Old

003
Some pictures taken after school yesterday. Joshua loves climbing the tree and hanging out.

007

So far the D60 is impressing me...my older Rebel XT is about 5 years old and there are always areas I need to improve or learn so I'm not sure I want to take the next step (money) for the latest camera.

The increase in MP from 8 to 18 makes a huge difference in clarity but that will easily suck up more memory. I'm just trying to remain objective but you know I love me some electronic gadgets. :)
023
I did download the manual so I can really try out some of the features. I'm going to figure out how many photos I can fit on a 4GB SD card. It does seem that once I have the setting the way I want, pictures are coming out pretty well. The 3-inch LCD articulating screen is pretty awesome too. Hmmm..

Rental

Testing a Canon D60 DSLR for about 10 days so expect tons of pictures as I photograph everything in sight. :)
I have a busy, fun weekend ahead and a 4 day weekend next week.
I already shot various yarn and so far I'm impressed with the speed and quality of the photos.

I won't a be a professional (not even close) but it does make me happy trying to capture moments. :)

Ready for the weekend!

I started my weekend early with Kat at the Kings vs Tampa Bay Lightning. #1 in the west vs #1 in the east. Oh yeah!! It was a tough, grinding game that both teams turned up and it was a costly turnover that had the Kings keep the puck in their zone and Justin Williams did a super suh-weet backwards move at the goal to SCORE!! It was EPIC!! :) Kings win 1-0 and Quick gets a shutout. We're NUMBER 1.

Kathy and I had lots of fun taking self protraits during the intermissions. Seriously, for us it's waaaaaay too much fun.
001
002
This is how we'll look when we meet our favorite Kings player!
003
Or maybe we'll just look stunned.
004
I think this is Kathy's look when she will "broadcasting in the booth with Jime Fox and Bob Miller". I'm just goofing off.
This weekend is gonna be great. Another Kings game on Saturday and his friend Kenley will be heading to so Kat and I will be enjoying the game at home with my fabulous Chinese chicken salad. Yum.

Then Sunday Kat and I will be attending our first Tip-A-King which allows us fans to get close to Kings players for photos and autographs for $5-10 and benefits the Kings Care Foundation. I think I have to pass the Fiber festival in Torrance due to a time conflict but that's okay.

005
This is the player that Kathy will be "most geeked out" by. #15 Brad Richardson.
006
Making fun of the Ice Crew interviews. Really cheesy puff pieces.
I'm waiting for a Canon D60 DSLR body that I'm renting for the week so I think I will take it to Tip-A-King. Very exciting!!

Election Day

Yesterday I voted. I also went to Costco with Kathy and met with Sandra. We were able to catch up a little bit which was nice to see some former co-workers although I see/talk Kathy a lot. We watched the Sony 3D demo which was pretty cool but the 3D glass are heavy especially when worn over glasses.

Kathy and I also went to Best Buy to buy Toy Story 3. The kids watched it last night and I caught the end of it which had me teary-eyed. Such a good movie.

I'm glad the election is over. We got political calls from Leonardo DiCaprio and George Lopez. Let's see how the politicians can turn California around.

Today is very hot. We were invited to go swimming after school so that should be nice. I'm making some green chile to go with the fried pork so that can be simmering today. Yum.

I ate our 3rd avocado with a tuna sandwich. Really good. I picked our last 3 avocados and they should be ripe hopefully soon.

Things that begin with "H"

Some of our Halloween decorations this year, most of which I got on sale after last Halloween.
006
The trick-or-treat pumpkin I did on the massive pumpkin with huge thick walls so remind me not to pick such a big one next year because I will be forever scraping.
002
That pumpkin took me 2 hours to gut it, then kind of free hand draw the pattern on it from my printed sheet. Some of the templates we have have perforated areas to trace then cut but this one I printed off a disc so I couldn't spend time cutting out all those pieces so I just did the best I could and it came out pretty darn good. :)

I finished another striped hat in dark brown and varied shades of lavender and rust. I think most guys wouldn't protest too much with the lavender, don't you? Hector doesn't care for it but fashionable men should like it, right?

Something Different

I forget that Hector has his own folder of pictures that have gone unblogged so here I am at his computer posting some the pictures that he has taken over the last year or so.
Snow day from February. I believe that this is Superbowl Sunday so I was hanging with Kathy while Hector and the boys romped in the snow.

Gotta love Hector's waterproof camera to capture moments like these. Classic.

At June mountain, the sister resort to Mammoth. The kids loved it. Well, look how empty it is, they had the whole mountain to themselves!

They definitely want to go back and I'm willing to check it out next time.

Hawaii in August. Josh's private hangout where no one dared to go.

At Point Vicente lighthouse. See what Hector takes pics of? I'm glad it's me and not someone else although I'm sure he has. :) Ha, it looks like a skirt but its really shorts.

Then he gets an awesome shot of the kids. Very cute.
Now to add some of these photos to my calendar folder...

Happy Halloween

Kathy and I ready to take the kids trick-or-treating. Kathy is the Queen of Hearts and I'm some fairy anime character. Use your imagination.

Not as many kids showed up this year which I blame the World Series so we used only 2 big bags. Ugh. I'll have to have Hector bring the other candy to his work. :)
