I had 2 very ripe bananas so I threw them in the fridge to keep away those pesky little fruit flies until I could find an appropriate recipe for them. I wanted to stay away from the standard banana bread and I saw a recipe for pumpkin banana bread. Hmmmm...so off to the store for some packed pumpkin and I made it. Instead of loaves, I used mini-muffin and muffin pans and had to adjust the time but they came out great. Josh devoured 4 of the minis while Sherri had some of each size. I didn't take any pictures because I was too lazy and hungry.

We browsed thru the books and decided we should 'try' to make a new item a week. Sherri immediately zoomed in on strawberry pie which sounds great for the summer weather. We had fun going through the books then I asked if she ever went to Trader Joes. Well she loves their flyers but didn't know where our nearest one was so we packed up the kids and headed over right away. It was fun lingering thru the aisles although it's pretty hard to browse when you have 2 active kids with you. I picked up some orange chicken, salami, a chicken salad (I had it for lunch), artichoke parmesan dip, milk and wine.

I plan to make some red chile for us tonight and maybe the kids can try the orange chicken with rice. Yum.

so not ready for this...

yesterday was Tyler's bring a stuffed animal to school day. He, of course, brings his beloved Torchic (one of the hundreds of Pokemon) to school.

During bathtime, Tyler says, "Bradley brought his Pikachu today. He put Pikachu under his shirt then ran around saying he was pregnant." At this point Tyler bursts out laughing then says,"I don't even know what that means!"

I chose to answer in the most broad and general of terms and thankfully Tyler didn't ask any further questions. Phew! I hopefully dodged that subject for a bit longer.

Slow blogging day but busy doing lots of laundry, making my grocery list and heading over to the grocery store. Curry, Italian casserole and banana pumpkin bread will be the featured items this week at our house. I also got a phone call from Sanz so we had to catch up on the latest with our households then I ran into Shari (a different one) at Vons so we spent several minutes chatting. Now I'm just chillin, waiting for the video to load then Josh and I are off to his kindergarten transition meeting at 1:45pm.

Another June gloomy day...Josh and Amber played at the park and built a "fire" with twigs, pinecones, spiky ball thingies, bark and rocks. We had our fire and "cooked" pizza. It was cute.

Newsboy cap

I finished the newsboy cap last night. I couldn't picture the brim from the pattern instructions but it began taking shape and worked out great. Tyler agreed to model the hat this morning and I noticed that the hat even fits me. I've already started another one; this time I'm using a solid color called dusty purple which should fit my big head a bit more comfortably.

I can't remember the yarn I used off the top of my head but it is by Berroco and I used #6 needles for the ribbing and brim and #8 for the hat.

That reminds me to finish up the wave jumper for my friend that welcomed his second baby girl into the world last week. The size is for a 6-12 month old but it would be nice to send it along with some slippers and hat that are already completed.

A nice breezy day...not too hot and not too cold.

Josh could stay in the wave pool all day if I let him. He has no fear of the big waves and will try to go out as far as he can.
